Eagle Project Rings the Bell

jginn6

Meet Han Malone, whose Eagle Scout project brought an 1800's era, cast-iron bell to the grounds of Historic Linthicum Walks. Originally cast by C.S. Bell Co. of Hillsboro, Ohio, the bell was gifted to The Walks by Diane and Ron Hoffman eight years ago. It resided in the basement at Linthicum Walks waiting to be brought back to service. Han took on the project, sanding, spray painting and mounting the bell. Han also requested and received donated materials from 84 Lumber to build the bell stand and organized fellow scouts in shifts to assist.

While digging the hole for the post, the scouts struck something solid in the ground. An archaeologist came out to investigate and found petrified wood.

In addition to earning the BSA Scout Eagle Award, Han is concurrently earning the Girl Scout Gold Award building benches at Trinity Church. Han also interns at the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County and is a senior in the STEM program at South River High School.
