Photographer and Author, Jay Fleming

donaldbailey

One evening my friend and I were headed to 49 West for some dinner and jazz music. As we passed the gallery at 55 West Street, I stopped and stared at photographs of boats from the Chesapeake Bay. They showed the boats with their reflections and were amazing. That was my introduction to Jay Fleming. We got him booked for our lecture series right away.

Jay presented on Saturday to a full house audience at Linthicum Walks. He used his photographs to tell the story of life on the Chesapeake Bay and the remaining islands. He said he felt compelled to photograph islands like Smith Island and Tangier Island before they disappear as others have. He shared his experiences with the watermen and the island inhabitants where he has created lifelong friendships.
